War Horse
Man is a great mimic; it is how we learn. War Horse manages to go beyond just imitation though: it captures the spirit of horses so well that the strange looking upturned wicker baskets running around on the stage become more real than the people operating them. I had been warned it was sad so I saved up all my tears and found myself moved at unusual moments: when the music was loud or the cast sung together or the lights flashed and the guns rattled. It was written with children in mind and so it was with the mind of a child that I watched it and I wondered. I won’t attempt to add to the streams of adjectives that have already been used to describe War Horse, but it is truly worth seeing.
